Oklahoma City family portraits

This sweet family was so fun and easy to celebrate! They chose their own family home for the setting of their Oklahoma City family portraits. It made for a comfortable setting for everyone to snuggle in, relax and enjoy one another. I’m a big believer in valuing the moment over perfection, and choosing such a comfortable setting allows for the ebbs and flows of energy.

We took a few breaks, played with the family pup, explored everyone’s favorite parts of the house. It made for a slower and much more relaxed session. My favorite moment of the session was our book break, where the family crowded onto a bed and read a book together. Something they do in everyday life, making for relaxed and natural portraits to cherish.

The most comfortable setting for your session

When you choose your own family home for your family portraits session, it elevates your session in a lot of ways. There’s no where more comfortable for each member of the family! It’s where you spend your everyday. It’s filled with memories. You already know your favorite places in the home, and where the best lighting is throughout the day.

And a personal favorite reason is – in a way, it’s like you’re also getting portraits of the house itself. Depending on your plans, you may not be in your current house forever. So choosing your home as the setting for your family portraits session means you get to also remember this time in your life and the home you occupied. It’s so easy to forget the nuances of daily life and your surroundings. This captures those moments in time for you.
