Gorgeous and interesting anytime of year, Kate and Will chose a stellar location for their Myriad Gardens engagement portraits. We photographed these in the autumn. Many of the leaves had already mostly fallen from the trees, but the weather is still so comfortable.
Engagement portraits are the best opportunity to get to know your photographer before the wedding. And also for your photographer to get to know you. We had met a few months before over coffee and hit it off. But being in front of the camera is definitely a different ball game. Kate and Will are laid-back, so fun, and just have the best comfortable energy. So, naturally, their ease in front of the camera felt fairly instant.
Myriad Gardens engagement portraits
We walked around the Myriad Gardens and had the place mostly to ourselves. The grounds span a full 15-acres, meaning there’s always somewhere interesting for portrait backdrops. Kate and Will stayed open-minded with portrait locations, even when I asked them to snuggle on the leaf-strewn ground for a few last portraits. This is one of my favorite poses for outdoor portraits. It always leads to genuine smiles, and earnest connection.
